VH1 Presents: Kanye West Storytellers

is on tonight @ 9pm on VH1. This is a CAN'T MISS. Any fan of beautifully composed music, whether you're a fan of Mr. West or not, should watch. He uses all live instruments to really stress each and every song, including some old classics, mixed with his newest material. Here is a preview/the opening in which he performs "Robocop". This is absolutely incredible artwork in the form of music!

AMAZING Artwork!

If you have an appreciation for art, you'll love these. These hand paintings were done by artist Guido Daniel, and are pure genius. Using the “body painting” technique, he creates and paints models bodies for different situations such as advertising pictures and commercials, fashion events and exhibitions.

THESE ARE CRAZY HOT!

Sometimes you come across a few songs that you know are just instant hits. These are those songs right here! I loved Colin Monroe after his mixtape that included his version of Kanye's "Flashing lights", and this new song didn't disappoint. Although I think he could have gotten someone better to feature on it, that would have fit the beat better, it's still hot. The Dream and Kanye West's new song, is absolutely bananas! I promise you, that when this hits the airwaves, it will be number one INSTANTLY. This is gonna be played all summer, it just has that 80's type sound to it. Ye brings the heat on this! There has also been rumors that The Dream and Kanye will be doing a collaboration album. If that happens, that could be one of the best collaboration albums, ever. Stay tuned!

The Fray's "Heartless" Cover

So not too long ago I did a post on cover songs. I have since stumbled across this one. The Fray put their spin on Kanye's "Heartless". I can't make up my mind on whether I like it or not? I try to listen to it, with the mindset of it being The Fray's actual song, instead of it being a cover. Parts sound off to me, but I think that is due to the fact that I am expecting it to sound like Kanye's? What do you think?

A Fiasco

The Lupe Fiasco show was last night @ the MSU Auditorium. After I heard his first album, Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor, he very quickly became my favorite hip hop artist. Last night, was the most excited I've been to see an artist of all the shows I've been to. I'm not gonna ramble on but if you EVER get the chance to see the man perform, do so. His poetic lyrics, mixed with the education he delivers and positive message he portrays to his audience, is unmatched. Below are pictures from last night (thanks to the home girl Shelby Chase), and a couple videos, courtesy of the Lupe Fiasco Blog.

It's Cold, I Need Covers!

Cover songs that is! I was going through a playlist the other day and stumbled upon some of my favorite cover songs. Here are 6 of them that I think either put a unique spin on the original, or are just great work. The original artist will be in parenthesis next to the title.

Mat Weddle "Hey Ya" (Outkast)

Jenny Owen Youngs "Hot In Herre" (Nelly)

Francis And The Lights "Can't Tell Me Nothing" (Kanye West)

Ryan Adams "Wonderwall" (Oasis) which aired on The OC.

Rogue Wave "Maps" (Yeah Yeah Yeahs)

Jem "Yellow" (Coldplay)

Nothing Lasts Forever

Now this is an old video and some of you may have seen it already, but it stands as one of my favorite performances to this day. Not many people knew that Kanye West's "Heard Em Say", actually inspired a song that Maroon 5 would later record for their album "It Won't Be Soon Before Long". Their song was entitled "Nothing Lasts Forever", and was debuted at their live televised show in Canada. To the crowds surprise, Kanye makes a guest appearance and they together perform their song. He also does a verse at the end, that would show up later as a Japanese bonus track, on his album "Graduation", entitled "Goodnight" featuring Mos Def.

Her Morning Elegance

I came across this music video just now and if you appreciate art, or expression of pure creativity, then you will enjoy this. I have to admit that I didn't know the artist before seeing this, but the song isn't bad. It is very mellow and reminds me a bit of Jack Johnson with different instrument use. In my opinion, I would have liked it a lot better had he used more violin (I love that thing). The artist is Oren Lavie, and this is his video for the song "Her Morning Elegance".
