I'm In Love Love Love!

Okay... There are two things that I came across today that I fell in love with. The first one being a picture/product, the next one being a video. The first one is a pair of sunglasses that will be coming out. Not only is the pair (Ray Ban), very dope in style, they come with colorful markers. For what reason you ask? simple. You can draw on these glasses in anyway you like to make them not only look unique and fresh, but to match your outfit for the day! It comes with a special removable liquid, so the marker doesn't smudge by coming in contact with water. Fly!

The next thing I fell in love with, is a video that was made with the use of Typographic Illustration. That is where people create a photo, and instead of drawing lines, the use letters. In this case, they use the word "BROOKLYN" and create some nice images. This video was created and used for the song "Brooklyn (We Go Hard)" by Jay-Z, for the upcoming movie "NOTORIOUS", the story of Notorious BIG's life. If you have never heard the song, it is in fact produced by Kanye West, making the song pretty nice with Jay's lyrics over it. This is standing as the BK anthem.

The Government's a G-Unit

While on youtube the other day, I came across one of my favorite Def Poetry Jam poems. If you haven't ever seen the show, it's amazing. Anyways, Common does this poem "A Letter To The Law", and it shows just how great of a writer he is, not to mention how anti government he is. I absolutely love this poem along with his others. The video is posted below!

On another note, I don't know about anyone else, but I love it when you stumble upon a new band or one is recommended to you. That has recently happened to me with a band called the Cold War Kids, maybe you've heard of them? If you haven't, they are worth checking out, especially if you like the song that will be posted below. My darling Annie was the one who recommended the band to me, and more specifically, the song "Hospital Beds". Thanks for that Annie!

First the video. "A Letter To The Law" by Common.

Lastly, the song! "Hospital Beds" by The Cold War Kids.

Peace & Much Love 2 Ya.

I Just Wanna Be A Real Boy

Last night Kanye did a live performance on SNL. The SNL studio looked like it was almost outside in how large the setup was. The first song he did, "Love Lockdown", was a good performance and then for his finale, he performed "Heartless" with "Pinocchio Story" thrown in towards the end. Needless to say the performance was hot and so what the background set up he had for his video. Here is the video, enjoy it as much as I did.

Niia is Dope!

Now I know this is an old song and I'm not much of a fan of it, but this is definitely the superior version so I had to post this. Niia kills this song and has an amazing voice.

A Small Hiatus

After a bit of a hiatus, I am back! Not a lot to update on after a busy week, but with Winter Break coming up, things should get a lot more interesting. Looking forward to seeing people who come back home. Hope all is well with everyone!

Who Came to See a Live Show?

I wanted to put a quick post up here today and let everyone know that didn't make it out to both shows this past weekend, you missed something special! Friday's show, with Alco and Ben Keeler, went really well. Alco's performance was probably one of the best ones I had ever heard out of them. Everything sounded good and timing was down, congrats on that guys! The show was the first time seeing Ben Keeler with his band, so I wasn't too sure what to expect. They came and rocked the house! They have really good sounding, well written original songs, not to mention excellent taste in their covers. They did The Beatles "All The Lonely People" and Marvin Gay's "I Heard it Through The Grapevine", great selection. I was overall impressed with how both performed and left the show happy. Plus Justin and I caught a bite to eat from Tim Hortons afterward which was the cherry on top of an already great evening!

Now, the Respirations show last night, the final one after a 2 and a half year run, was hot! I got introduced to a lot of new artists that I wasn't aware of until last night. Logic's spoken word poems were definitely a site to see. I use to watch Def Poetry Jam on HBO all the time, so this was a treat to see. Jerrod came and did his thing, with two newer songs that will be on his upcoming mixtape, The Booth Chronicles 3 (plug plug). He shut the show down almost completely in my opinion when he brought up his version of Jay's "Jigga What". Props to him on that! Everyone else in between was hot and did dope in their performances but other than Jerrod, no one else came with it like Philthy and JYoung The General. Now this is slightly biased I know, but I don't really care! Both did the hell out of that stage with the closing performances! These two are the illest artists in the area, and know how to do a live show. Props to Rideout for his 4 bar freestyle back and fourth with Philthy as well. Definitely the best way to end the show, although I did think it would have been dope to have all the emcees that performed last night, come up on stage and all do a rendition of Lupe Fiasco's "Hip Hop Saved My Life". Support local artists and REAL HIP HOP!

Now to the song of the post, a throwback. In honor of last night:

Philthy's "How Can You See"

Show Tonight - Awesome New Artist

There is a show tonight @ Mac's Bar. A couple of good friends of mine will be playing. First is the band Alco, who always put a good show on. Followed by the Ben Keeler Band, who drove up from Chicago. Both have a great sound and are worth checking out!

I was watching David Letterman the other night with Caitlin, when an interesting new artist performed. At first, I found the girl to be very different, almost weird. After hearing the song half way through, I was hooked! This girl is amazing and I was super impressed with the song. Not only did she have a great voice, but she did sign language as she sang! How cool is that? Anyway, this is the song she performed and is the song of the day. Enjoy.

Sia "Soon We'll Be Found"

I Always Had a Passion For Flashin

I am a very big fan of glasses! Sunnies and Readers!
Here are my 6 favorites, all available at UrbanOutfitters!
These are all fresh fresh fresh! The red ones are dope in Black as well.

2 Songs again today. One is from the band The Killers, very good!
The other is from Hova, whose birthday is TODAY. Happy Birthday Hov!

The Killers "Human"

Jay Z "December 4th" (still a dope song!)

2 Live Shows This Weekend

First off, I wanted to say thanks to my man Philthy for also throwing my AIDS video on to his site the other day. He also is down for supporting the cause and brought up a valid point in his post. It's not just about what you did or do on the designated day for AIDS awareness, but what you can do afterwards. The fight should never cease, so continue to do whatever you can, whenever you can!

Now I would like to let everyone know about two dope shows this week. First off, at Mac's Bar this friday, we have Alco, along with Ben Keeler's band coming in from Chicago to put on a show. Both are really good live bands and are worth checking out. The next night is the final Respiration show at Mac's Bar! This is definitely a show you need to be at if you can't come out for the night before. This show, being that it's the last, will have high energy and will be a time for people to come bring the house down. If you are interested in coming, get a hold of me or Philthy, who will be performing and who always does a dope fucking show! I hope to see everyone there!

2 Songs for today. One is a throwback. Enjoy!

First Song: Modest Mouse's "Trailer Trash"

Second Song: Common's "The Light"
